Viewing a silhouette connects the observer directly to the moment of the object’s creation-staging a kind of reenactment scenario across time.

Check out a selection of images below, and the full gallery after that. This chapter examines silhouettes and waxworks by late eighteenth- and nineteenth-century women artists in order to consider the ways in which these mysterious artifacts represent traces of the embodied presence of specific individuals. There are plenty more on the horizon, and I’m lookign forward to the Wolfman and Creature From The Black Lagoon when they get to them. At $24, it’s a nice affordable collectible. In hand, I think the Frankenstein Spinature looks fantastic. The colors are very muted to pay homage to the black and white origins of the character.

There are light washes over each area that help to add depth to the sculpted details. The head feels just a hair big compared to the hands, but it’s nothing that would stop me from recommending this to horror fans. The likeness is pretty spot on to Boris Karloff as the creature.

The sculpt work is excellent, with intricate texture work on the skin and jacket. So imagine it won’t cause any unnecessary stress to records while playing.

It’s a pretty solid construction, without being too heavy. The Frankenstein’s Monster stands at 3.75″ tall. On it’s own, it displays perfectly without a record player and looks great on a shelf, especially if you have other Frankenstein collectibles. If, like me, you currently do not own a record player, then this will act as a small scale mini bust. The mini busts is mainly meant to sit on top of a record while it plays as a collectible spinner. Spinatures are, first and foremost, a collectible aimed at horror music fans. The mini bust sits in a plastic tray, with a few plastic ties holding it in place. The collector friendly packaging allows you to place the figure back inside for storage or display. The new Frankenstein Spinature comes packaged in a small window box.

Waxwork is proud to present FRANKENSTEIN, from their Universal Horror Line, as their very first Spinature. Waxwork worked closely with various studios, rights holders, and family estates to ensure that the likeness of each character was officially approved. Computer desks, bookshelves, toy and collectible display cases, counter tops, even car dashboards. Any home or office setting is perfect for SPINATURES. Collectors of quality toys and figures may also enjoy SPINATURES by proudly displaying their favorite characters virtually anywhere. No turntable? No problem! Waxwork took into account that not all collectors are vinyl enthusiasts. SPINATURES are fitted with a hole in their base to easily attach to the spindle of your turntable and then spin along with your favorite records. Spinatures are highly detailed turntable-spinner mini-busts featuring iconic characters from pop culture, horror movies, and beyond. Waxwork Records is beyond thrilled to announce their entrance into the toys and collectibles market with SPINATURES. The first character offered will be the creature from the 1931 classic film Frankenstein! The Spinatures busts can be placed on top of your record player, or simply displayed as a bust.
